Another year, another Umirama.
CONCLUSION
Well, this is probably the most anticipated and planned one I had ready but performed the absolute worst of all years. I think after 5 years I might just put these to an end. More on that later.
Let's just take a moment to see how far we've come. 5 years. Crazy work for a project only like 5 people care about. I was really hoping Issue Zero would be a turning point for me but it still feels like I'm at square one. Making zero progress. Get all these socials, get all these people, get money, and nothing seems to work. But it's fine. Good things come to those who wait. And to the same 5 people who show up to Umirama, thank you. Gives me a reason to keep doing them.
The collabs I mentioned before the event started will still be worked on and developed, but hospital bills, burnout, and behind the scenes development are all slow. I'm one guy. The charity stream raised 15 big ones, but if you missed the stream, you can still donate below. I'm not sure when it ends, but donate before the end of the month, definitely.
FANWORKS WINNERS
As per usual, we have our yearly Fanworks competition, and while many people were busy with ArtFight, I allowed those entries also to compete for Umirama. Lots of entries this year, think this is the most we've gotten in a while. Let's list our winners:
First Place - KyuubiMoon [40 of your currency to Steam]
2nd Place - RaineXael [20 of your Steam currency]
3rd Place - Gman84 [5-10 of your Steam currency]
Don't worry if you didn't win anything, any other entires will still be shown on the Community Spotlight, see below
THE FUTURE
While I do enjoy setting up Umirama, and the fanworks that people cook up, it's too small to do anything with, and the people in the server clearly don't care about the content I'm providing. Over the coming weeks, I'll be trying to focus my server HEAVILY towards my work, as from the 70 people there, only 5-7 really care about what I do. I always expect big numbers for Umirama, and I always want to tease and release new things, but it's a ghost town, minus the same 5 people in my friend group. And while I appreciate their input and I'll never take it for granted, no one else seems interested. I make this big annual event and for nothing. So, until I see bigger fan and community numbers, Seasonal Events are cancelled. Gives me more time to work, gives you guys, the 7 that care, a break, and it benefits everyone. I really should have just kept it yearly but it seems even with 4 Events a year, no one really shows up.
A server and website revamp is due, so if everyone gets shut out, apologies. This is a hangout server and community, yes, but it's also a place to share my work, U&C or not. It's about me. Please show some interest if you want to stay
In terms of U&C, work has begun on the first full issue. I've finished a few pages, and while I would like to tease it, I teased a LOT of Issue Zero before and basically spoiled it. So for the sake of keeping interest, I'm keeping this to myself. Artfight put a dent in my plans, and i got bored of it pretty quickly, but rest assured, work is going well, for my main comic, as well as collabs.
With Seasonal Events scrapped, I look forward to sharing more at next year's Umirama, assuming I'm there. Life isn't the best for me, but I'm pulling through. Hope those people had a good year this year
