UMIRAMA IS BACK FOR 2025 BABY!
The annual Umi & Candy event is back, beginning Saturday July 19th! Due to the team being busy (definitely that) and being in surgery myself, I've been busy with my own personal projects, and haven't had the time to prepare anything Umi related for a while, minus odd sketches. But Umirama is back again this year, even if the announcement is late. I apologize, but again, lack of team cooperation and surgical revocery.
This is a long page, so strap in folks.
What to Expect This Year
Due to not having much time or co-operation, this Umirama will be incredibly similar to last years. It will be mostly Games Nights, an art competition, and QnAs with me. I will be doing many things of my own as well to celebrate the occasion, Later in this page will be a schedule of everything planned for the event, so do keep reading what else I have.
What Will I Be Giving to the Community?
☀️ Side Projects:
As per birthday tradition, the Minecraft Playermodel pack will be recieiving an update, but not a birthday update this time. Just an update to include some characters that I didn't model last year, as well as new characters, and upgrades to current ones. I may include some birthday variants of the new characters if I get the time after finishing the main pack.
There will be more side projects in future involving these characters, definitely, but for now, I'd like to stick to something easy and managable. I have mods and such for other games being made, I want to stray from original products for now. Those mods will be released when they're finished, and they'll be open source too.
☀️ QnAs:
Within the last year, Umi & Candy as a franchise has picked up a VERY small amount of new fans, and while it's not much, it sure means a lot to me. The QnAs didn't kick off at all last year, but I feel like with this big news coming up there should be a lot more questions than answers. I look forward to hearing what everyone has to ask me, I'm always open to discuss plans and lore, even if it's not released yet to the public.
☀️ Releasing Old Work:
I've seen that when the original game was canned, some people picked up and tinkered around with the source code, even implimenting features I never got around to. This is great, and I honestly didn't expect people to fix what was essentially a bunch of chewing gum, sticky tape, an overly ambitious dream and INCREDIBLY limited Godot knowlegde.
So to this, I plan on releasing some of my original pixel art and sprites to the public so they can use them as they please, whether that be fangames, mods, or even just as art inspiration. My art may be simple, but some people are inspired by me, and that's awesome, so I wanna give back to the people. Give me a few days to compile all my old artwork and report back here soon. I like to keep everything open source. Umi, Candy their friends and enemies are made by the people, for the people.
☀️ Character Redesigns:
A TON of characters are getting slight redesigns or entire overhauls, as my art skills have since improved from last year, even if it doesn;t feel much like it. Have a look out for that too. Umi will remain the same, she's simply too iconic.
☀️ One Final Big Announcement...:
I'm sure everyone on our Discord server, https://discord.gg/Q7brEVK4mK, has seen the "tba" channel located in the "Umi & Candy Corner" category. I will explain what that is in due time and why it's been so secretive and unexplained for a few months. But I'm sure some folks already know. Please don't spoil it for everyone, secrets come to those who look for them... This news will be released during the event week.
Fan Content Competition
Here's is a set of rules. I will be judging and voting for your work. I will also be labeling all the prizes for the winners. Here are the rules for Art and Other Fanworks:
No AI, tracing, stealing, NFTs or any kind of plagiarism, it will result in an immediate disqualification. Works of art can include:
Digital/Traditional Artwork (As long as it doesn't use premade asset tools such as Picrew, the Gacha Series, or other such programs)
Musical Pieces
3D Models (As long as they're not premade in things such as Garry's Mod, Source Film Maker, and other similar programs)
Writing and Storytelling
Game Mods (As long as you don't encourage piracy)
Videos
Be sure to keep your works only in the #umirama-year-4-entries channel. There is a 6 hour slowmode because you may only be allowed 1 entry and talking isn't allowed in there. Please don't also open threads, you may speak when voting begins.
Keep it Umi appropriate, featuring Umi characters in some capacity. Also, keep it relatively appropriate for everyone. Please try to have variety as well, a lot of last year's entries were mostly Umi & Candy when I have upwards of like 50 characters.
External/OCs and crossovers are allowed, just as long as Umi stuff is involved and is the primary focus.
It will be a community vote, please don't vote for your own work! Also, don't encourage others to vote for your work. It needs to be a fair vote for everyone. Voting will begin on the final day where I solely will be picking a winner.
Anyone who doesn't win, please don't be upset! You may still show off your art and get a chance to get it pinned in the #fan-content channel! I'm a sucker for any fanart.
What Can You Win?
First Place for the Competition will win $40 for a Steam game, or the respective amount in their local currency, as well as a role saying they won 1st Place.
Second Place for the Competition will win $20 for a Steam game, or the respective amount in their local currency, as well as a role saying they won 2nd Place.
Third Place for the Competition will win a role saying they won 3rd Place.
Any Questions? If you have any questions or queries about the Competition, please do DM me and ask me anything, I'm always happy to answer and help out, giving everyone their best possible chance to win!
